- Survey South of Market interest. Greg wants to
walk with business owners along 14th south of Market to discuss
issues/concerns. Meet with Warren Akervick, Barry Hawley.
- Need to preserve businesses as Ballard becomes a
bedroom community
- Barry will get a list together for business
owners to do this walk
- Plan to do this April 25th around 4:30/5:00? Greg will send and
agenda for this to Barry for distribution to the attendees.
- Transportation worries of businesses. Large
vehicle access opportunity to improve access to 14th for
turning onto the street. Use of right away for load/unload of trucks.
Maneuvering and parking for employees and deliveries. 1957 Gilman Park was turned from residential to industrial. That’s why cross
streets are narrow. Streets are all on clay, so also not very stable.
- Community Meeting set for April 27th
- Need to advertise meeting at Adopt-A-Street
- At the meeting, need to present opportunities
and gets response from community in a comfortable environment.
- Greg and Peter will put together an agenda and
send out agenda to tech committee for review
- 1 week after meeting, Greg will provide an
issues paper
- Early/mid May we should have a vision statement
in place
- Plan to have another community meeting in May
- Advertise in Ballard News Tribune – Greg to
communicate with Rebekah.
- Adopt-A-Street Cleanup Party April 22nd
10:30am-12:30pm
- Cookout planned afterwards
- Rob will see if we can use the open lot on 14th
owned by St Al’s (Rob has since secured that location for us)
- Dawn will talk to Lindy about getting a tent
- ReStore mural unveiling ceremony May 13th
- Dawn will get volunteers for 4 half-hour shifts
to sit at an information table at the event
- Need to get handouts (trifold) made for our
project – Peter will look into this
- Ballard District Council Meeting Wednesday April
12th – Dawn to attend and report back
- Capital Improvements grant – deadline for
application has passed
- Cumulative Reserve Fund – RobB sent in
suggestions
- Need to pursue King County Resources grant
- Sewer Stenciling project
- Dawn hasn’t had enough time to organize this and
hasn’t found any volunteers to help out. We may need to put this off
until the August Night Out event

- Rob to provide write access to the secure area
so Debbie can update the contact list
- Rob will look into Google Palatial Service where
you can take a section of a map and identify information on the map.
Neighbors could then fill in this map with information areas that need to
get addressed.
- We can also set up an online message board
- Community Message Board/Kiosk?
- David Smith from Blowing Sands will be digging
up the asphalt in front of Blowing Sands and putting in some plantings.
Maybe we could install a community kiosk in this area?
- Maybe we could put information at Greg’s P-Patch
- What about the glassed in bulletin board at
Safeway?
- August Night Out Event
- Try to get block near Market closed off. Should
we have a fun run? Treasure hunt? or some other kind of group activity?
- Seattle Channel
- Peter met with the folks from Seattle Channel
last weekend. Interview should air in May. They’re going to be at the
ReStore mural unveiling event too.
